Breast Rest Blog

One day during my morning ritual of examining the life gifts and wrinkles on my face, to my horror, I noticed the new wrinkles on my décolleté.  Being in the beauty industry as a hairstylist, my life revolves around enhancing and making people feel good about themselves.  So to make myself feel better this day, I had to ask everyone and make sure I was not the only women with this wrinkle problem.

To my surprise, 95% of the women I interviewed that day had wrinkles.  As the day progressed the wrinkles became fainter.  It was later in the day that I realized that these wrinkles are delivered while we sleep, more than likely lying on our sides hugging ourselves.  I eagerly tried to “fill in the space between my breasts” before I went to bed that evening.  Then I realized that no matter what I stuck between my breasts, it wouldn’t stay unless I had a top on to support it.  Well, that didn’t fly because I am a bare sleeper.  All of a sudden I had an idea involving pantyhose and tea towels rolled up and shoved into each leg. 

While I was unclothed, breasts exposed admiring my work, my husband entered the room and all he could get out was “what is that”!   I told him I made it as he walked the opposite way down the hallway.  Twenty minutes later I was in bed, reading a book with the pantyhose and tea towels around my breasts and my husband appeared stating that he “couldn’t get the visual out of his mind”.  And so the story began.

I continued to sleep with this pantyhose support around my breasts.  It became a necessity.  My wrinkles were minimal and I found great support while I slept.  Two days following the creation of this garment, I awoke in the morning and had the name pop into my head before I could even open my eyes. “The Breast Rest”, I told my husband.  He, of course didn’t know what I was talking about, so after much clarification, he understood.  At that point he knew I wanted to have a real garment to wear.  Being in the textile industry, my husband began his own project by locating the newest and most original fabric available today.  And then the designing was underway.

My husband accompanied me to several Canadian companies who so graciously listened and kept open about our ideas and the benefits of The Breast Rest™.  They provided invaluable information and support that compelled us to the next level of production and distribution.  During the designing and troubleshooting period, many categories and demographics came to mind and the project became more than a garment.
