My breasts and I have been on a self discovery trip for 27 years. Early development led me to being embarrassed and self-conscious of my breasts. My first bras concealed and buried my breasts until I became a young lady in my late teens. Lace and wire pushed me to exposure in my early 20’s. Tenderness and engorged breasts continued through motherhood and to present. Nurturing my son engaged me into my journey of mind and spirit. “My breasts fed and nurtured my son into a healthy, strong boy”. I needed to care for, consider and cherish my breasts more. Respect that they represent the Goddess in me and the seat of my emotions and thought. To awaken the wisdom and compassion of the Goddess within us is the foremost quality of The Breast Rest™.

Being Self-Employed from the age of 19, Jody has had several entrepreneurial opportunities. With her workaholic personality, for years, her body was being abused. Subsequent to making herself, health and wellness as her number one priority, her desire to design a breakthrough garment that would serve and support women began. For the past 2 years, Jody has been developing, designing and researching The Breast Rest™, the best rest and support for the Breasts.

Why The Breast Rest?

I am a 39 year old wife of Paul, a mom to an 8 yr old son Thomas and my 13½ yr old Labrador dog Dallas. I love my life.

It was an idea made from vanity, far from who I really am. I didn’t in fact care that I discovered I had wrinkles on my décolleté, it was the inquisitive side of me that thought “how did they get there”. Sleeping I discovered

And then it began, the Breast Rest Journey. While I hugged and revived my body with sleep, I developed wrinkles, how unfair. I quickly designed something from opaque tights. Gusset around my back and tea towels rolled tight and stuffed in the legs, the tubular shape circled my shoulders and breasts. Who would have thought my husband would find this sensual. Or was it the fact that I was comfy and confident enough to wear something like this to bed with my breasts exposed. I had to pinch him, he wasn’t dreaming.   

I was dreaming, most nights for 2 years about the Breast Rest. The first to come in my dream was the name of the product, then, books to read, and company’s to see. New styles and designs would be sketched into my journal. The more I paid attention to The Breast Rest, the more I paid attention to me and my breasts. I cared for myself. I looked at myself more and loved myself more. The people around me wanted to know more about it, and what I was doing with it and how it was evolving. They too wanted one.  

It was the long nights on the internet surfing for information on breasts, breast cancer, and lymphatic system, nursing moms, breast reductions and enhancements. The forums were unreal. Real women engaged in conversation over the health of their breasts and how to live with discomfort and without comfort. This drove me everyday. The more I learned the more my desire to design a garment for women became a reality.

I pitched my innovative idea on CBC’s The Dragons Den reality show. They didn’t get it. They were conventional I was extraordinary. I live outside the box, they are the box. I have been blessed with the opportunity to get my product such exposure. I am very thankful to CBC for believing in The Breast Rest enough to give us a break that became reality.

And now the authenticity begins.
